Cynthia A. Cox

Cynthia A. Cox, CPA owns a full service accounting firm whose client base is primarily churches and other nonprofit organizations. Her services range from monthly bookkeeping services; consulting on tax and budget issues; reviewing and developing the Organization’s internal control procedures and accounting services; education of finance and/or audit committees; to compilation, review and audit services. The primary goal of the firm is to serve the nonprofit in a way that enables its tax exempt purpose to flourish and grow. Cynthia’s true passion is serving God through serving churches and nonprofit organizations using her accounting and leadership skills.

Cynthia’s experience has included 17+ years of work on nonprofit engagements. Cynthia began working with nonprofits in 1996, but she has been practicing public accounting since 1980 when she graduated with honors from Trinity University. She has been certified as a CPA since 1983. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the American Women’s Society of CPAs, and the National Association of Church Business Administrators, Houston Chapter. Cynthia has served on several boards of nonprofit organizations in the past and continues to serve on boards today. She currently serves as the Vice President, Member Services of AWSCPA, National committee and as a Past President of the AWSCPA, Houston Affiliate. She was chosen as the AWSPCA, Houston Affiliate’s 2010 Woman of Excellence.

Cynthia considers education of an organization’s personnel and board members to be a priority and has taught seminars on subjects such as Fundamentals of Fund Accounting; Key Issues in Dealing with Nonprofit Accounting; Developing Internal Controls in the Local Church; and Taxes for the Church and their Ministers. Most recently Cynthia spoke at the Texas Ministry Conference in February 2013. Prior to starting her own practice, Cynthia’s auditing experience included school districts, city governments, and other for profit entities.
