About Church CO+OP
Susan’s first career was as a structural engineer in the oil and gas industry, where she was involved in the design and construction of offshore platforms with McDermott, Inc. in New Orleans and Houston. She transitioned to church work in 1993 and became certified as an Administrator (CCA) in 1998. She spent 12 years as the Administrator of Ascension Episcopal Church in the Houston Westchase area. During this time, she served on the CO+OP Board, as Treasurer of the local chapter of NACBA and the national chapter of the Episcopal group (NAECBA), and as Treasurer of Westheimer Social Ministry (now West Houston Assistance Ministries). She also sang in the Ascension Church choir and a semi-professional group, Chorus Angelorum.
Susan then worked as one of the Administrators at Christ Church Cathedral, concentrating mainly on a $24 million construction project which included the new Diocesan offices and a large outreach complex for the homeless and underserved of Houston. She later became Administrator of Kinsmen Lutheran Church in Houston’s Champion Forest area and began serving on the CO+OP Board a second time. She was most recently the Director of Operations at St. Mark Lutheran Church and School. In 2012, she worked on the committee responsible for planning the NACBA National Conference in Houston. She has a married daughter with a master’s degree in speech therapy and a son with a master’s degree in analytical chemistry.
