SUSAN CONVERSE
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Susan’s first career was as a structural engineer in the oil and gas industry. She spent six and a half years in the design and construction of offshore platforms with McDermott, Inc., both in New Orleans and in Houston. She began church work in 1993 and became certified as an Administrator (CCA) in 1998. She spent twelve years as the Administrator of Ascension Episcopal Church in the Houston Westchase area. She served as Treasurer of the local chapter of NACBA and of the national chapter of the Episcopal group (NAECBA). She also served on the Board of the Church CO+OP for several years and as Treasurer of Westheimer Social Ministry (now West Houston Assistance Ministries) for seven years.
During her time at Ascension, she sang in two choirs: the Ascension church choir and a semi-professional group, Chorus Angelorum. She then spent two years as one of the Administrators at Christ Church Cathedral, concentrating mainly on a $24 million construction project, which included the new Diocesan offices and a large outreach complex for the homeless and underserved of Houston. She spent two and a half years as the Administrator of Kinsmen Lutheran Church in the Houston Champion Forest area, where she also began serving on the Board of the Church CO+OP for a second time. She most recently served as the Director of Operations at St. Mark Lutheran Church and School and is the Secretary of the Board of the Church CO+OP. In 2012, she was on the committee that planned the NACBA National Conference in Houston. Susan has a married daughter, who has a Master’s degree in speech therapy, and a son who spent three years in the military and is now finishing school. She has a silver Lab named “Decker.”
